Pasco soccer posts another shutout

Emilio Mraz-Rodriguez took a pass from Tobias Jimenez at the top left side of the 18-yard box, took two dribbles and curled a shot inside the far post to give the Pasco Bulldogs the only goal in a 1-0 Mid-Columbia win over visiting Walla Walla on Tuesday.

It was Pasco’s fourth league shutout in five games.

“In the game of soccer, we get joy out of goals, but we also get joy from playing good defense,” Bulldogs coach Matt Potter said. “Emilio scored a great goal. Both teams had good chances. It was a tough game. (Walla Walla) keeps possession well.”

Jon Rosas made three saves in the Pasco goal.

Richland 2, Chiawana 1 (SO): Juan Martinez score near the end of regulation, and the host Bombers won 3-1 in the shootout.

Bertin Mendoza scored in the 59th minute for the Riverhawks.

Sunnyside 1, Eisenhower 0: Abrahan Garcia scored in the 21st minute off an assist by Christian De La Cruz to lead the Grizzlies to a CBBN win at home.

Othello 3, Prosser 1: Jason Rodriguez had a goal and an assist, and Jacob Quiroz and Eddie Mendoza also scored as the host Huskies beat the Mustangs in the CWAC opener for both teams.

Maximiliano Sanchez scored in the 70th minute, and Jesus Heredia made 15 saves for Prosser.
