Energy Northwest earns award for safe practices

TRI-CITY HERALDMarch 25, 2013

Energy Northwest has earned the American Public Power Association's Safety Award of Excellence for safe operating practices in 2012.

The agency earned first place in the category for utilities with 1 million to 4 million worker-hours. The award was presented Monday during the association's annual Engineering and Operations Technical Conference in Kissimmee, Fla.

More than 280 utilities entered the annual contest, which is the most in the contest's history. Judging was based on the number of work-related injuries or illnesses required to be reported to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration per hours worked.

"At Energy Northwest we are proud of our safety record and have a strong work force of employees who strive to ensure safe operations in every facet of their work every day," Charles England, organizational effectiveness manager at Energy Northwest, said in a statement.
