Kennewick — The state of Washington is not expecting to extend the deadline for removing studded tires this year.
They must be off by midnight March 31 or drivers could get a $124 ticket.
Our forecasters expect mild temperatures with little chance for snow or ice across much of Washingtons lowlands, said Chris Christopher, the Washington State Department of Transportation maintenance operations director.
Drivers will need to check conditions before traveling over passes, he said.
This year Oregon and Washington are coordinating studded-tire removal dates to make travel rules consistent.
