Kamiakin softball roughed up by Pendleton

by the Tri-City HeraldMarch 22, 2013

The Kamiakin softball team was on the wrong side of a border clash Friday between defending state champions.

The reigning Class 3A champion Braves fell 9-5 to Oregon Class 5A champ Pendleton at Lawrence Scott Park.

Melanie Oord went 2-for-4, and Easton Young homered for the Braves (2-1), but Kamiakin committed five errors.

Three of them came during the Buckaroos’ four-run first inning. Darian Lindsey slammed a three-run homer, and Pendleton was off and running.

“The top of their lineup killed us,” Kamiakin coach Tim Bisson said.

Lindsey and her sister Shea both finished 2-for-5, while Rayne Spencer and Kasidee Lemberger each had three hits. “There are no excuses,” Bisson said. “We didn’t play well. We will.”
