Admission casts Tina Fey as an all-business admission officer for Princeton University. Her life is unraveling. She's been unceremoniously dumped by her boyfriend, has a tense non-relationship with her ultra feminist mother and learns that the baby she gave up for adoption years ago attends an alternative school and wants to get into Princeton.

Fey is quite charismatic and a very funny lady. Paul Rudd, who plays the head of the school and the discoverer of the relationship between Fey's character and the kid is a great straight man. He, too, is ubercharismatic.

Paul Weitz (About a Boy) directs, and Karen Croner, who penned the very nice One True Thing in 1998, wrote the movie. Their flick is a rom-com with just a dash of drama.

Rudd and Fey have excellent chemistry. The support cast of Michael Sheen, Wallace Shawn, Lilly Tomlin and others is terrific. Tomlin is exceptionally good and steals every scene she does.

What none of the actors has is a story of any kind of depth to be worthy of their talent.
