Moses Lake — A Moses Lake man and woman received lengthy federal prison sentences Wednesday for their roles in a methamphetamine distribution ring.

The U.S. Department of Justice said Isidro Madrigal-Galvan, 20, and Renee Gomez, 24, were convicted of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and other offenses related to the trafficking organization in October 2012.

Senior U.S. District Court Judge Edward Shea sentenced Madrigal-Galvan to more than 19 years and Gomez to 10 years in prison, a Department of Justice news release said. Madrigal-Galvan will be deported once he is released and Gomez will be placed on six years of court supervision, the release said.

A third member of the organization, Martin Murillo-Barriga, was sentenced to more than 16 years in federal prison in February, the release said.

Shea noted during the sentencing that Gomez played a “relatively minor” role in the organization and sentenced her to the minimum allowed by the statue, the release said. The lengthy sentences were due to aggravating circumstances associated with both traffickers’ crimes, such as trafficking close to a school and carrying firearms.

The convictions were a result of a Drug Enforcement Agency-led investigation with the help of numerous federal, state and local agencies.
