I am responding to Carl Wheeler's letter to the editor on March 13. He seems to have a problem with President Obama supporting raising the minimum wage to $9 an hour. He believes it will help "destroy the economy."
The last time I checked, Washington state's minimum wage was more than $9 an hour. I'm still looking for the destructive effects it has had on this state.
One could argue raising the minimum wage allows more disposable income to the low income workers to put back into the economy. I suggest Wheeler try living on $7.25 an hour. It's not so easy, particularly if you are raising children.
Wheeler also criticizes President Obama and the liberal media and how they are still blaming Bush for everything wrong. Interesting there was no mention of the conservative media (Fox News, et al) and their political bias. Perhaps Wheeler feels conservative media cannot misrepresent the truth to pursue their own political agenda.
Time for radical conservatives to take off the blinders and see the real world.
