Letter: Congress tends to overreact to tragedy and disaster

Published: March 19, 2013

Under the terms of the U. S. Constitution, Congress is elected to be in charge of creating laws and regulations to maintain order and create an environment in which our citizens can prosper and survive.

A few dozen radicals hijacked airplanes over the years and as a result we have invasive regulations applied to everyone who travels.

A few unbalanced individuals such as Adam Lanza and Jared Loughner went on sprees and have triggered Congress and the president into proposing far-reaching legislation concerning guns and ammo to override the Second Amendment.

Who, exactly, do we think is running the store?
