A Kennewick man who allegedly tried to steal scrap metal from a property in Pasco on Monday led police on a short chase before he was arrested.

Police said Rafael Castillo-Rodriguez, 35, fled when a man saw him attempting to steal the metal from his property on Falls Road. The man chased Castillo-Rodriguez in his car until deputies arrived in the area, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said.

Castillo-Rodriguez led police on a chase in a white Chevy pickup before officers were able to arrest him on Taylor Flats Road across from Douglas Fruit, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The Pasco Police Department also assisted in the arrest.

Castillo-Rodriguez was arrested on suspicion of third-degree theft, trespassing and driving with a suspended driver’s license. He was booked into the Franklin County jail.
