McBride, Byrd among big winners at Papa Wells Invitational track meet

Columbia-Burbank senior Harley McBride won two events at the Papa Wells Invitational track and field meet Saturday at East Valley High School in Moxee.

McBride won the 100-meter hurdles in 17.14 seconds and captured the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 4 inches.

Hermiston's McKenzie Byrd was also a double-winner in the girls shot put (37-6.5) and javelin (123-7). The Bulldogs brought a healthy contingent of athletes, accounting for two more individual champions in Ashton Earl (boys long jump, 20-6.5) and Maggie Coleman (girls 1600, 5:34.02) .
