We are in a spiritual war. Obviously, I'm writing about the latest secular media attack against Christians: Arlene's Flowers. Secularism, a counterfeit religion, has emerged as the moral basis of operation of government, the media and public education. By constant media Goebbels-like propagandizing, it has supplanted Christian morality as the operative moral standard-bearer of our society. The now-routine secular moral standard is, "If it feels good, do it! But you must do it 'our' way, no exceptions, or we will punish you."
The Vatican of the religion of secularism is the White House, and our state is just one of its dioceses, governed by secularist clergy that pass laws and do things, some useful, some simply in conformance with secularism's dogmas.
A Herald editorialist has sermonized us with details of one of these secularist dogmas: mandatory obedience to a law by a state that can do no moral wrong since it officially purports to set the standards of moral right and wrong. But an unjust law is no law at all. It is only an anti-Christian totalitarian violation of God-given liberty, as in Cuba, Venezuela, Russia and, increasingly, the United States. Welcome to the replay of first century Rome.
