Eric Comrie returned to the Toyota Center on Thursday, but the Tri-City Americans goaltender wasnt back to take his place in the crease. Hes just visiting.
It was a lot of fun saying hello again to everyone, said Comrie, who also brought his younger brother Ty along for the weekend. Some of the guys didnt know I was coming. It was great to go into the room and see their faces again.
Comrie has been home in California doing rehab on both hips since having surgery in early February. He said therapy has been going well.
Theres lots of pool therapy, he said. Tons of stretching and body squats. I just have to keep moving.
Comrie said he has two incisions on each hip. Kind of like a tic-tac-toe board, he said.
Comrie, who is eligible for the NHL draft June 30, said teams still are showing interest despite the surgery.
They are going through my agent, Comrie said. He has talked to a lot of teams.
Comrie was 20-14-1-2 in 37 starts this season before the pain in his hip was too much to bear. The injury also kept Comrie out of the Top Prospects Game in January.
Comrie, who will return home today, watched Fridays game in Spokane and Saturdays at Toyota Center.
That was one of the hardest things I had to do, Comrie said of watching from the stands. You just want to help your team as much as you can. Its going to be hard to say good-bye again. We really are a family. I wish them good luck.
