Tri-Cities Prep's mock trial team will head to the state-level competition this week after taking second at a recent regional event.

The state level event will be at the Thurston County Courthouse in Olympia on Friday and Saturday. The competition, run by the YMCA Youth & Government officials, is meant to sharpen thinking skills and teach about the court system.

The Pasco school's team is made up of Annie Bayless, Lexi Chvatal, Addie Davis, Audrey Hermann, Bridget Hohl, Catherine Jacobs, Sam Leon, Mariah Lujano, Liam Merk, Brian Murphy, Madelyn Noble, David Sherwood, Margot Spindola and Cody Wadsworth.

One of the team's student attorneys, Rachel Davis, was recently named "Best Attorney" during Benton County competitions last month.
