Baseball: Southridge outlasts Redmond in season opener

Southridge 5, Redmond 4 (8): Kory Miller successfully laid down a drag bunt, which the Mustangs defense promptly threw away allowing the winning run to score in the eighth inning in Kennewick on Friday.

Connor Morfin threw two innings of scoreless relief to earn the victory, while Connor O’Neil was 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs.

Waitsburg-Prescott 18, Kennedy (Ore.) 0 (5): Dalton Estes had a pair of two-run home runs — one of them during a 14-run fourth inning as the Tigers won at the Rocket Robin Tournament in Pilot Rock.

Estes also struck out eight and allowed no hits in four innings for the Tigers, who will face Pilot Rock at 1 p.m. today and Union at 4 p.m.
