Richland starts Claybell Park, Bellerive Drive improvements

— The Claybell Park/Bellerive Drive project in Richland is getting under way.

The city and its contractor have started preparation work, a city news release said. The project’s price tag is $1.5 million. It will include building four new tennis courts at the park, and adding two new multi-sport fields, a new walking trail around the fields, a new bathroom and a new parking lot.

Bellerive Drive will be extended to the end of the new sports fields; additional parking will be available along the newly-extended road, according to city information.

“The original Claybell Park parking lot will be closed during the project and visitors are encouraged to park on Broadmoor Street. The existing tennis courts are expected to remain open until the new tennis courts are completed,” the city news release said.

Details are on the city’s website, www.ci.richland.wa.us, under the Claybell Park/Bellerive Drive Project tab.
