HERMISTON -- Armand Larive Middle School recently won $5,000 from U.S. Education TV for its use of the multimedia platform.
An elective video production class, ALTV, taught by science teacher Robert Doherty submits news broadcasts to the media company, which is used to spread news and information by schools and other community groups.
Doherty received the prize money and the school's Best Middle School Award during the Student Television Network Convention in Los Angeles.
He surprised his students with the announcement by inserting it in his own news report on the channel's most recent news segment.
