Kiona-Benton boys, girls tennis sweeps Highland, Naches Valley

Ty Cannon and Tucker Cannon pulled out a 7-2 second-set tiebreaker victory against Hunter Gunderson and Joe Trapp of Highland to win the No. 2 doubles match for Kiona-Benton 6-1, 7-6 (7-2), which clinched the boys team win for the Bears.

Ki-Be’s top girls doubles team of Marissa Alvarez and Sierra Todd lost just two games to anchor a sweep.

Naches Valley at Ki-Be: Eric Glasgow, the Bears’ No. 1 singles player, tripped up Griffin Malonee 6-1, 6-0 to spark a 4-1 boys team win. On the girls side, the No. 2 doubles team of Michelle Sanchez and Lubov Risin and the No. 3 doubles team of Jacky Calzadillas and Momo Calzadillas improved to 2-0 on the day with straight-set victories.

Columbia (Burbank): Julie Mosqueda won both her singles matches in straight sets to help the host Coyotes girls beat Zillah and Goldendale. Burbank swept Zillah 5-0 and defeated Goldendale 4-1.

Connell: The host Eagles girls beat Zillah and Goldendale as Jolee Booker won both her matches at No. 2 singles. Connell’s No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams (Logan Cooper/Alena Zurcher and Shaunessy Joyner/Kira Knight) also were victorious against both schools.
