Picking up where they left off last year, the Hanford girls golf team cruised to the team title Friday at the Hanford Invite at Horn Rapids Golf Course in Richland.
The Falcons, who won the Class 3A state title last year, finished with a three-golfer total of 235. Wenatchee was a distance second at 286. Southridge and Walla Walla tied for third at 288 and Pasco rounded out the top five with 291.
“It was a strong showing,” Hanford coach Mike Neidhold said. “Looks like they are back on form. It was really solid play.”
Kelsey Aiello took home medalist honors with a 4-over par 76, while teammate Lacy Swarek shot a 78 to take second. Taylor Kain tied for fifth with Pasco’s Neydeen Martinez, firing 81s.
Neidhold also mentioned the strong play of Pasco, which had the Martinez sisters finish fifth and seventh. Jaylane was seventh at 83.
Southridge’s Catherine Warner took fourth at 80, while Kennewick’s Allison Kadinger was eighth at 86 and Walla Walla’s Jessica Huntsman was ninth at 87.
