Franklin PUD customers have been targeted in a scam with collection calls falsely claiming to be from the PUD.

Customers, particularly Hispanic-related businesses, are told their bill is past due and a PUD truck is standing by to turn off their power.

Franklin PUD does make courtesy collection calls after customers have received a "final notice" in their bill, but does not solicit by phone just for payment, the PUD said. If customers do make a payment by phone, the PUD gives them a confirmation code.
