Columbia Basin women clinch No. 2 seed

The Columbia Basin women’s basketball team locked up the NWAACC East’s No. 2 seed to the NWAACC Basketball Champion-ships with a 76-56 victory Wednesday at Treasure Valley in Ontario, Ore.

Alicia Jones scored 15 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead the Hawks (10-4 league, 14-12 overall).

Columbia Basin will open the NWAACC tournament at 8 a.m. March 2 at the Toyota Center against the Chemeketa (9-4, 16-10).

Hannah Depew’s 17 points led the Hawks. She also added five rebounds and seven steals. CBC shot 41.3 percent from the field (31-of-75), but just 54.5 percent from the free-throw line (12-of-22).

Treasure Valley men 75, Columbia Basin 59: Playing with just seven players, the Hawks struggled in a road loss against the Chukars in Ontario, Ore. Kyler DeWitt led Columbia Basin (0-13 league, 1-22 overall) with 16 points and eight rebounds.
