State official advises review of documents

Published: February 20, 2013

Washington Secretary of State Kim Wyman is reminding businesses to check their corporation and limited liability company filing documents.

Failing to file an annual report can make it difficult to obtain or renew business licenses, to receive financing or win contracts, according to a news release. It can create legal challenges, and may affect state and/or federal tax rates for a business.

Wyman also advises regular review because it can help identify wrong information that might be recorded for public record. It also can act as a way to check for potential business identity theft.
