Letter: Get free help with you tax return at various venues throughout Mid-Columbia

Free tax help

Each year, taxpayers spend money getting help with their taxes. There is free help available to all citizens of Benton and Franklin counties from Feb. 1 thru April 15. Our tax-aide volunteers are ready and eager to assist you.

We have all gone through a training program and passed the IRS certification test. We have sites set up at libraries, senior centers and community centers in the Mid-Columbia, including Benton City. All our sites are E-filing sites.

We require taxpayers bring W2s, 1099s, Social Security statements and any other applicable paperwork. Bringing last year's taxes also is a big help.

You must bring Social Security cards for taxpayers and dependents and Photo ID for taxpayers.

For locations and times, call 888-227-7669. We are looking forward to helping you with your taxes.
