Gymnastics: Kamiakin's Jaquish wins state title on vault

Kamiakin's Kelsey Jaquish won the Class 3A/2A/1A state title on the vault Friday at the Tacoma Dome.

Jaquish scored a 9.7 on the event to win her first individual state title.

Results of the event were not available until Saturday.

Highline's Kristen Rodal was second at 9.625. Kamiakin's Michelle Fletcher took fourth at 9.575 and Saige Polanik was eighth at 9.4.

The Braves took second in the team race, while Jaquish was fifth in the all-around race with 37.025. Rodal defended her all-around title, scoring a 37.950.

The meet continues Saturday with individual competitions on the floor, beam, vault and bars.
