Mead (20-1) at Chiawana (16-6), 7 p.m. Friday: The winner of this game earns a spot in the Class 4A regionals. ... The Panthers are absolutely loaded and have been ranked No. 1 in the state this season. One local coach desribed Mead as starting four Delaney Hodgins’ with a Khadidja Toure thrown in for good measure. ... Chiawana will have its hands full, but if it can regain its outside shooting touch and play solid defense, should stay in the game.

Gonzaga Prep (19-3) at Walla Walla (19-4), 5:30 p.m. Friday: This is an elimination game with the winner facing the Mead-Chiawana loser Saturday for a regional berth. ... The Blue Devils have struggled to close out games recently, twice falling to Chiawana despite leading after three quarters. ... Tonight will be a big test for the inexperienced Blue Devils. They will need strong games from sophomores Mikayla Ferenz and Madi Doepker, as well as senior post Torri Crawford.

University (12-9) at Kamiakin (16-5), 6 p.m. Friday: The winner of this game earns a spot in the Class 3A regionals. ... The Braves struggled a bit down the stretch in the regular season, but rebounded nicely in a rout of North Central on Tuesday. ... Kamiakin needs balanced scoring like it got Tuesday, and can’t totally rely on do-everything senior Courtney Nelson. ... The Braves have had a bad habit of struggling in first halves this season, only to flip a switch and rallying in the second half. They can’t afford to do that against premier talent.

Kennewick (9-12) at Shadle Park (12-9), 6 p.m. Friday: This is an elimination game, with the winner facing the University-Kamiakin loser Saturday for a regional berth. ... The Lions pulled off one of the biggest upsets in girls basketball in recent memory Tuesday, defeating Mt. Spokane 61-50. ... Balanced scoring ruled the day for the Lions, and they will need another big scoring night from Janey Valerio, Ashley Kump and Taylor Osmundson to pull another upset.

Grandview (17-5) vs. Selah (12-10), 5 p.m. Friday, Sunnyside HS: The Greyhounds are two wins from reaching the Class 2A regionals. The winner of this game will face the Great Northern League’s No. 2 seed, while the loser plays the GNL’s No. 1 seed. ... Grandview junior Marissa Caballero crossed the 1,000-point plateau in Wednesday’s 55-53 overtime loss to Ellensburg. She scored 15 points in the loss, giving her 1,003 for the season.
