SPJ offers scholarships for high schoolers

The Society of Professional Journalists will be awarding up to $1,000 in scholarships for high school students.

High school students can write a 300- to 500-word essay answering the question "Why is it important that news media is independent on the government?"

The deadline for submissions is March 7.
