Gymnastics: Kamiakin, Fletcher cruise to regional titles

The Kamiakin Braves rolled to the Region IV team title Saturday at Southridge High, easily outpacing Spokane’s University High.

The Braves finished with a team total of 175.375 points, while U-High had 167.325.

Kamiakin’s entire team qualifed for the state meet with the victory. The Braves took the first four spots in the all-around competition, with Michelle Fletcher winning the title with 36.1 points.

Danielle Brandon was second at 35.975, Kelsey Jaquish third with 35.6 and Saige Polanik fourth with 35.175.

Hanford’s Kayla Lasater advanced to state in the bars and beam. She finished third in the bars with a score of 8.175 and fourth in the beam at 8.95.

Fletcher won the bars with an 8.325 and the floor excercise with a 9.575. Brandon won the beam with a 9.425, while Jaquish won the vault with a 9.425.

Last season, U-High edged Kamiakin for the regional title by 1/8th of a point.
