Letter: Reader pledges to help homeless teens through My Friends Place

Published: February 7, 2013

During these very cold days and nights, it does my heart good to know there is shelter available for the homeless teens of our community.

My Friends Place is a shelter for homeless teens ages 13 through 17 run by Safe Harbor Crisis Nursery. Because of the gratitude in my heart for My Friends Place, at the end of 2012 I decided to commit to sending $50 a month to Safe Harbor specifically for My Friends Place. It is my way of saying thank you for keeping this shelter going and to show my support.

I'm hoping that those people in the community who share my joy in My Friends Place will do the same -- make a commitment to send a pledge to Safe Harbor to give support to My Friends Place. My $50 a month isn't a very large pledge, but if it were multiplied by the many people in this community who give My Friends Place their heart support, it would make a big splash. So here's my pledge to give $50 per month to support My Friends Place. I hope you'll join me!
