Benton County Sheriffs deputies and officers from Richland and Kennewick police departments prepare to search a home Wednesday at 21905 W. Yakitat Place near Benton City after the elderly resident found a suspicious backpack reportedly containing burglary tools and pistol ammunition in her driveway. Sgt. Bob Brockman of the sheriff's office said officers didn't find anything out of place inside the home. He said its possible the incident was an interrupted burglary. The resident did the right thing to call 911. Its better than opening the door and finding someone armed inside, he said. Parents in the neighborhood had to drive to a nearby freeway overpass instead of their usual stop near the home to pick up their children from the school bus because of the search.
