The Internal Revenue Service started the 2013 filing season Wednesday.
The IRS began accepting and processing most individual tax returns after updating forms as required by the American Taxpayer Relief Act Congress enacted Jan. 2.
The IRS still is updating its systems for some tax filers, who will be able to file late February or early March. April 15 is the tax return deadline.
New and expanded services for taxpayers this year include a redesigned IRS.gov web site and increased enforcement efforts to protect taxpayers from refund fraud and identity theft.
