Applications being taken for crop grant program

The Washington State Department of Agriculture is accepting applications for the Specialty Crop Block Grant.

About $3 million in federal money will be available to enhance the state's fruit, vegetable and nursery industry. Requests can be made for grants between $25,000 and $250,000 to fund projects on pest and disease control, food safety, international trade, sustainability and more.

Pre-proposals are due by 5 p.m. Feb. 25 at specialtycrop@agr.wa.gov. Invitations for full proposals will be sent in early April.
