Letter: Congress shouldn't get paid if it's not doing its job

January 29, 2013

I read in the Jan. 15 Herald that checks for seniors and veterans may be held up if Congress doesn't get something handled. Why don't we hold up congressional paychecks if they aren't doing the dang job?

To save a lot of money, why don't we stop paying pensions to past members of Congress? Why did Congress get an automatic pay raise while the rest of us get more taxes?

I think it's time that we the people take control of what the heck is happening to us. We did it once before, if you remember. It was called the Revolutionary War -- just saying.
