Game Day: Medicine Hat at Tri-City

January 25, 2013

Derek Ryckman, a former Tri-City defenseman who helped the Americans win a U.S. Division title last year, is in town with the Medicine Hat Tigers. Ryckman was a victim of the overage cut this year and was traded to the Tigers.

A nice touch by the Booster Club: they are auctioning off Ryckman's jersey tonight. Maybe he'll be around to sign it later.

Tonight, Americans Beau McCue and Ryan Chynoweth are out with injuries and affiliate player Matthew Gelinas was brought in to fill out the lineup. For those keeping track at home, Gelinas is wearing No. 38.

Luke Lee-Knight is in goal for the Americans. Just saw his dad, Todd, in the stands. Came all the way from Calgary for the weekend.

The Americans wore their Nuclear Night jerseys in warmups. I have to say, I think I like this year's jersey better than the previous ones.

Americans defenseman Drydn Dow is playing his 200th career game tonight — all with Tri-City.

A win tonight would give Jim Hiller his 170th as the Americans coach.
