Letter: Banning guns but not abortions doesn't make sense

January 25, 2013

I just don't get it. Vice President Biden and the Obama administration want to prevent violence by people who have access to guns, yet they care less about the violence being done to our tiniest, most vulnerable who are violently severed from their mother's womb and suctioned out piece by bloody piece.

Of course, no one wants to see or hear what really happens during an abortion because it is too horrible to stomach. But I did hear Sen. Patty Murray say she wishes people would just stop talking about abortion and focus on the economy.

These politicians want so much to protect innocent life, yet at the same time, they disengage their sense of moral outrage and fail to help the tiniest and most helpless of us all.

If possible, they would also like to impose their lack of moral responsibility on the citizenry by having us disengage our own consciences, "the new immoral normal."

In 2011 alone, Planned Parenthood performed 333,964 abortions, up from 332,278 in 2010. This number does not include thousands of lives terminated by abortion pills given to its clients.

Make sense to you? I didn't think so.
