Review: 'The Impossible' is only so-so

Published: January 25, 2013

Sometimes the theater chains will slip a film into release and I miss the memo. The Impossible is one of those.

Naomi Watts got a Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination for her work. She's hit or miss and so is this based-on-a-true-story movie about a family trying to find each other after a devastating tsunami hit Thailand in 2004.

Sometimes The Impossible will have you close to tears, and at other times you'll be yawning.

Mr. Movie rating: 3 1/2 stars

Rated PG-13 for mature themes. It is playing at the Carmike 12.

5 stars/4 1/2 stars: Must see on the big screen

4 stars / 3 1/2 stars: Good film, see it if it's your type of movie

3 stars / 2 1/2 stars: Wait until it comes out on DVD

2 stars / 1 star: Don't bother

0 stars: Speaks for itself
