'Doughnut hole' hearing set for today in Pasco

Published: January 23, 2013

Franklin County Commissioners are scheduled to have a public hearing today on the proposed incorporation of the Riverview area.

Riverview also is known as the "doughnut hole" and is a piece of Franklin County surrounded by Pasco.

Pasco annexed part of the area effective Jan. 1, reducing the population below the threshold to allow the area to incorporate.

But a lawsuit by Riverview residents seeking to undo the annexation remains pending in Franklin County Superior Court. Riverview residents filed a petition to incorporate as a new city to try to prevent annexation by Pasco.

The hearing is at 9 a.m. in the commission chambers at the Franklin County Courthouse, 1016 N. Fourth Ave., Pasco.
