ELECTION LETTERS Learn about Pasco bond

Published: January 22, 2013

Pasco voters will soon receive ballots regarding the future of our schools. No matter your stand on the issue, I urge you to be an informed voter and learn about the issues leading to this election.

Pasco has been one of the fastest-growing communities in the nation over the past decade, so it should be no surprise that the board has determined that additional schools are necessary. The school board listened to the community and adopted several strategies to reduce taxpayer cost yet provide the needed schools. The bond will pay for three large elementary schools. More information can be found on the district website, www.psd1.org.

Myths and misinformation litter every election and this is no exception. Please seek the facts. Public information sessions are scheduled at Pasco schools before the election and at the Booth Building on Jan. 24 and 30 at 6 p.m. I encourage you to separate fact from fiction, gather accurate information and vote.

President Roosevelt said, "Nobody will ever deprive the American people of the right to vote except the American people themselves and the only way they could do this is by not voting. "

Your vote counts; make it an informed vote.
