ELECTION LETTERS Richland bond: Yes

Published: January 22, 2013

As a parent with children in the Richland School District, I fully support the Richland school bond that will soon be before voters. As the executive director of the Home Builders Association (HBA), I know how imperative a great school system is to continue to attract and retain economic growth and development. The Richland School Board has always been diligent with their funding and they are asking for this bond because it is necessary to address significant issues with Richland schools.

With three elementary schools that are 42 years old and the need for a new elementary and middle school, there is much work to be done to strengthen the foundation of Richland schools. Strong schools are one of the many factors that encourage business. More business brings more residents, both of which increase the tax base, which helps to further strengthen schools. If one of these balls drops, the students suffer and eventually, the entire community pays the price.

On behalf of the HBA and as a parent, I ask you to vote yes on the Richland school bond.
