The Hanford and Richland boys swimming teams will meet this morning in Yakima for the Eastern Washington Swim League title.
Both teams might be a little tired after their nonleague contests Friday in Ellensburg against Hazen of Renton, but neither squad had trouble against the Highlanders.
Hanfords Will Wertz won the 100- and 200-yard freestyle events in a 102-74 victory over Hazen.
Richlands Ashton Pollick took the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke, and Andrew Blanchard swam a blazing 53.15 seconds in the 100 butterfly to lead the Bombers to a 100-83 win.
We had a good ending relay for them, but we just missed the state cut, Richland/Hanford coach Kathy Piper said.
The Falcons, however, clocked a Class 3A state-qualifying time of 3 minutes, 25.71 seconds in winning the 400 free relay. Jeevan Philip, Parker Schumacher, Wertz and James Bennett made up the winning team.
Philip also qualified for state with his time of 55.31 in the 100 fly.
Todays season finale, which also includes Selah, will start at 10 a.m. at Lions Pool.
