Portland's Hillstomp returns to the Tri-Cities on Jan. 19 at Ray's Golden Lion in the Uptown Shopping Center off George Washington Way in Richland.
Hillstomp is known internationally for its junkbox bluesy sound with a hint of punk. The duo is made up of Henry "Hurricane" Hill Kammerer and John "Lord Buckets" Johnson.
Hillstomp was featured in the third season of the popular TV series Sons of Anarchy and has toured the U.S. and Europe since 2002.
Their latest album is Darker The Night. Kammerer and Johnson admit on their website that they are infamous for digging through dumps and forgotten backwoods of American music for sounds that recycle traditional elements and give that music a distinctive new sound, sort of like a "do-it-yourself" hill country blues stomp.
The Ray's gig starts at 9 p.m. and is an all-ages event. Cover is $8. Also featured will be Savage Henry, which will celebrate its newest CD release, and the energetic sounds of Killer Creature.
