Governor's Employer Awards honors PNNL

BY THE TRI-CITY HERALDJanuary 17, 2013

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland is one of nine winners of the 20th Annual Governor's Employer Awards Program in Washington.

The State Governor's Committee on Disability Issues and Employment selected PNNL for recognition in the program that honors employers who have demonstrated exemplary practices to recruit, hire, retain and promote individuals with disabilities.

PNNL was recognized for its "American with Disabilities Act-compliant infrastructure" and for building a "vibrant and inclusive work force."

PNNL has ADA-compliant accommodations, infrastructure and websites for staff and job candidates.

They include power-assisted doors in the majority of PNNL facilities and ADA-compliant infrastructure that allows staff with disabilities to easily participate in lab-sponsored social events.

PNNL was recognized in the Non-Profit Employers category and will be honored at a ceremony in Olympia on Jan. 23.
