EVERETT Six players scored goals and Luke Lee-Knight stopped 32 of 33 shots to lead the Tri-City Americans to a 6-1 victory Tuesday over the Everett Silvertips at Comcast Arena.
Brian Williams, Parker Bowles, Mitch Topping and Michal Plutnar all had a goal and an assist for the Americans, who improved to 5-2 against the Silvertips this season.
Tri-City (25-16-1-2, 53 points), which will play at Vancouver tonight, pulled within four points of fourth-place Spokane in the Western Conference standings.
Everett (17-26-0-2, 36 points), which is 1-2 since firing coach Mark Ferner last week, has been outscored 14-1 in its last two games under general manager Garry Davidson.
The Americans held a 1-0 lead after the first period with a goal by Williams, but opened up the game in the second with goals by Plutnar, Bowles and Justin Gutierrez.
Everetts Manraj Hayer pulled the Tips to within 4-1 at 5:54 of the third, but the Americans would score a pair of power-play goals down the stretch to pull away.
Topping scored on a 5-on-3 power-play at 12:13, and Jesse Mychan, who had been without a goal since Nov. 24, notched a goal on the man advantage at 12:55.
Drydn Dow added two assists for Tri-City, while Marcus Messier and Justin Feser each had one. The Americans were 3-for-3 on the power play and 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.
Lee-Knight had a shutout going until Hayer redirected a shot by Josh Winquist. Lee-Knight improved to 4-2-0-0 this season.
