Letter: Gun safety in the classroom

January 15, 2013

DAVID CHRISTENSEN, Kennewick

I applaud Dave Blosser, firearm safety instructor for Practical Edge Shooting ("Tri-City classes teach firearm fundamentals," Jan. 7) for teaching his firearm safety classes with a red imitation gun.

Even in the hands of a trained and experienced professional, firearms are dangerous and have no place in an educational setting, not even a firearms safety class.

Tri-City Herald is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
