CBC splits pair at Blue Mountain

Sierra Higheagle scored a game-high 18 points and Hannah Depew added 14, and a big effort from the reserves helped the Columbia Basin College women to a 69-52 win over Blue Mountain in Pendleton.

KieOsha Avery-Winchester, the Hawks' lone sophomore, came off the bench to score 12 points on 5-for-6 shooting and pull down eight rebounds. CBC's four bench players combined to shoot 7-for-9 (78 percent) compared to 22-for-50 (44 percent) for the starters.

Point guard Kellie Ross had a fine all-around effort for the Hawks (6-9, 2-1 East) with eight points, nine rebounds, six assists and two steals against only two turnovers. CBC had just 10 turnovers overall.

Kim Pickett led Blue Mountain (6-9, 1-2) with 14 points, six rebounds and five assists.

CBC returns home Wednesday to take on Wenatchee Valley.

Blue Mountain 98, CBC men 73: Tyler Adams canned 6 of 9 3s and scored 22 points to lead the hot-shooting Timberwolves over the visiting Hawks.

Blue Mountain (8-7, 2-1 East) hit 15 of 28 (54 percent) on 3s and was 34-for-66 (52 percent) overall.

Kyler DeWitt scored 32 for CBC (1-12, 0-3), knocking down six treys. Jerid Ronquillo added 13 points.
