A 32-year-old Connell man driving an off-road vehicle is dead after a car collided into him on Highway 260 last night.

The Washington State Patrol has not released the victim's name pending next of kin notification.

The crash happened just after 5 p.m. about four miles west of Connell.

The Connell man was driving a 2002 Honda Trx350 off-road vehicle without headlights and a helmet, the State Patrol said. He was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, which is where he died, the State Patrol reported.

He was struck from behind by a 1999 Buick Century 4D driven by Michael E. Votaw, 20, of Connell. Votaw was taken to Lourdes Medical Center with unknown injuries.

The cause of the wreck is under investigation.
