A 63-year-old woman was killed Sunday when she crashed into the back of a flatbed truck near Hermiston.

The wreck happened just before 11 a.m. on Highway 207, about three miles south of Interstate 84, the Oregon State Police said.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was going north on Highway 207 when she tried to pass a flatbed truck making a left turn, troopers said.

The woman returned to her lane, but her 2012 Toyota Tacoma slammed into the back of the flatbed truck, which had slowed to make the turn.

The driver of the Toyota died at the scene.

Two people in the flatbed truck, Scott J. Madison, 55, and Kattie L. Pettyjohn, 45, both of Echo, were not injured.

The collision remains under investigation.
