Arming teachers

January 6, 2013

BINK OWEN, Walla Walla

Though many in our land would hail this step, "Utah group offers concealed-weapons training for teachers," (Herald, Dec. 27) it saddens me to know our schools will now have teachers carrying pistols.

First Utah, then how many more states will follow gun-totin' advocates who believe going down this road is the answer to keeping our children safe?

What worries me is this: Who is to say every teacher's would never snap in a rage and draw. But more importantly, some child, in some some school, will find that weapon unattended and then . . .

It seems Utah's solution is to pile more tragedy on tragedy.
