Christmas concert

January 4, 2013

Kudos to James Bennett, band director for McLoughlin Middle School in Pasco, who called Christmas what it is. On Dec. 19, he concluded an extremely talented middle school band performance with hundreds of audience members joining the band to sing traditional Christmas carols; the songs that talk about the birth of Jesus Christ who is the reason we celebrate giving at this time of year.

It was encouraging to see that in public school. After all, this country was founded by people of Christian faith. We hang on to a lot of other history but seem forced on all sides to let go of this important aspect. Bennett did a great job in holding on to the true spirit of the season and wishing all a Merry Christmas!
