At least five people are dead after a passenger bus crashed on icy Interstate 84 east of Pendleton this morning. It is the second fatality on Interstate 84 today. Oregon State Police said the bus crashed through a guardrail, apparently on Cabbage Hill, and went down an embankment a couple hundred feet before coming to rest. The bus crash sometime before 10:30 a.m., according to the state patrol. Officers did not have a total number of possible dead or injured early this afternoon. They also did not know how many people were on the bus or what company was operating the bus. However, Pendleton Fire Chief Gary Woodson told the East Oregonian there could be 30 to 40 people on the bus. PHOTO COURTESY OREGON STATE POLICE
