Chiawana placed six wrestlers at the Pacific Coast Championship at Hudsons Bay High School in Vancouver, and finished in the top six in the team standings.
We finished above four other teams ranked above us in 4A, Riverhawks coach Jack Anderson said of the two-day, 35-team event. We did pretty good job without a full lineup. It was a good effort.
In the semis you had mulitple state placers trying to get to the finals. Some of the best wrestling in the Northwest.
Official team standings and the championship matches were not available late Saturday night.
For Chiawana, Chris Montelongo finished third at 120 pounds, losing in quardruple overtime in the semifinals.
Austen Silvers was third at 182, while Predro Murrillo (126), Clayton Smith (152) and Abzael Loeza (220) placed fourth for the Riverhawks. Martin Villanueva was eighth at 285.
Hermistons Tyler Berger won the 145-pound title.
