Kyle Cox, executive director of Mid-Columbia Libraries, has been named to the Library Council of Washington by Secretary of State Sam Reed.
The council was formed to promote access to library and information resources for Washington citizens and has an advisory role, according to a release on the library district's website.
Cox will represent public libraries serving more than 100,000 people.
Cox has been with Mid-Columbia Libraries since 2005, working his way up from communications director before becoming the permanent executive director in late 2011 after serving in an interim capacity.
